Vouchers and the statements
Tier two — the Tally replacement. Every figure on these six tabs ties to every other: the trial
balance foots, the profit carries into retained earnings, receivables match the ageing report and VAT
payable matches the return. That consistency is the point; a demo that doesn't tie is a demo an
accountant stops trusting in about forty seconds.
This is the screen that has to beat Tally.
Tally users are keyboard operators — they never touch a mouse and they type an account by its first
letters. So the grid is keyboard-first, the account picker matches on code or name in either language,
and the voucher will not save until it balances. Shortcuts are shown, not hidden in a help page.
Posting is final — corrections are made by reversal
Before posting
Debits equal credits
Period is open — Aug 2026 not yet locked

No VAT effect — nothing to report to the authority
Approval required above OMR 10,000 — this voucher posts directly
What posting does
The voucher becomes immutable. There is no edit and no delete — Article 157 conditions the legal validity of electronic records on exactly that.
A mistake is corrected by a reversal voucher that references this one. Both stay in the day book, and the audit trail shows why.
The number is drawn from a gapless series. A gap is a finding, so continuity is reported, not silently repaired.

Look at rows five and six.
The wrong voucher is still there, marked Reversed, with the reversal directly above it naming
what it corrects. Nothing was deleted and nothing was silently edited. That pair is what an auditor
wants to see, and it is what the regulation requires — the day book is a record, not a workspace.

Revenue is split three ways because Oman requires it.
Article 156 of the VAT Executive Regulations requires the general ledger to hold an account for each
type of taxable and exempt supply — so a single "Sales" account is not compliant. Our default chart
ships already split, and the VAT return reads those three accounts directly rather than re-deriving
the analysis.

Presented under full IFRS on an accrual basis — the Income Tax Law requires it and there
is no Omani local GAAP to fall back on. Every line drills through to the trial balance account and from
there to the individual vouchers.

Three numbers on this page appear on other reports, and they match.
Trade receivables 62,943.500 is the ageing total.
VAT payable 8,837.000 is the net on the VAT return.
Retained earnings is last year's 214,833.500 plus this
period's profit 187,510.000. The trial balance foots to
2,806,733.500 both sides.
Books may be kept in any language — but must be produced in Arabic on the Tax Authority's request.
That makes bilingual account names a data-model decision rather than a later translation pass. Every
account carries both names from the day it is created, so this document is generated, not prepared.

What this page does not do.
It presents the statement; it does not audit it. Oman requires accounts signed by an auditor
registered in Oman within four months, for every taxpayer above a very low threshold — capital
of OMR 50,000, income of OMR 300,000, ten employees. Our job is to hand the auditor a set that already
ties, in both languages, with every figure drillable to a voucher. The signature stays theirs.
